Is the Volvo EX30's single screen a deal breaker?

Anyone else bummed about the lack of a traditional instrument cluster in the new Volvo EX30? I get the whole "minimalist" thing, but a central screen just feels like a cost-cutting move they're trying to spin as fancy design. I like having my speedo and other gauges right in front of me. Thinking of getting an EX30, but this is a sticking point for me.

I bet this is their definition of a futuristic look :ROFLMAO:, their goal is to make it minimal or clean and sleek but they even made it look mediocre at best. But I'm curious, is it possible to customize our dashboard to make it more unique and fit for our style?

I get your frustration...It’s tough when the “minimalist” design feels more like a sacrifice than a luxury. Having gauges in front of you is a lot more practical than relying on a screen

Honestly, I don't mind the touchscreen. I know a lot of drivers prefer those old-school buttons for the AC, but I don't have that muscle memory where I can adjust it without looking. As long as the temperature controls are easy to find on the screen, it's no different than glancing down to find a button.

Of course, I'll have to see how it feels in real life, but in theory, I'm not bothered by having a touchscreen instead of buttons.

Volvo's thinking is probably to make things simpler and less cluttered, but it kinda feels like they're cheaping out instead of making it better.

They're probably trying to copy what Tesla's doing with all the tech stuff. I get why they're doing it, but I'm not sure I like it.

Agree with you. I believe in the saying, "less is more" haha!

I get it! The lack of a traditional instrument cluster in the Volvo EX30 can be a letdown if you like having your speedo and gauges right in front of you. Volvo’s minimalist design is sleek, but it feels like they’re focusing more on style than function. Having everything on one screen can be distracting if you're used to the old setup. That’s a downside for me too!

There are buyers who aren’t as focused on getting the best specs, price, or range within a 40-50k budget—they just want something unique. While I’m not one of them, there’s definitely a market for it. New Volvos, in particular, aren’t targeted at budget-conscious shoppers
